Ian Watkins’s ex-girlfriend speaks about his death

Two individuals were charged with the murder of Ian Watkins, the former frontman of Lostprophets, and they made their court appearance today, October 13. As blabbermouth.net reports, the musician was serving a 29-year term for child sex charges when he was fatally stabbed on Saturday, October 11, at a jail in northern England. Samuel Dodsworth, 43, and Rashid Gedel, 25, had separate appearances before Judge Dunne at Leeds magistrates court. Both men are scheduled to appear in Leeds Crown Court on Tuesday after being placed under remand in custody. After prisoners were released from their cells at the British maximum security jail HMP Wakefield, 48-year-old Watkins had his throat cut.

It was a horrific scene, with blood everywhere and alarms and sirens going off. Police and ambulances were called and the whole prison was locked down with all cons confined to their cells.

Joanne Mjadzelics, Watkins’s ex-girlfriend, alerted the Daily Mail about Ian’s murder and played a crucial role in bringing his crimes to light. According to reports, Mjadzelicshad’s association with Watkins caused her to experience PTSD and self-harming problems.

This is a big shock, but I’m surprised it didn’t happen sooner. I was always waiting for this phone call. He was walking around with a target on his back from the first day he entered the prison. I have always been scared of him getting out and tracking me down or something, so this is a relief. I wanted him dead for a long time after everything he did. I am relieved, I feel like a weight has been lifted from my head. This is the second time someone has slashed his throat. I expected it to have happened earlier. He’s been in there for almost 13 years.
