The gothic rock band Cemetery Skyline played their Helsinki show in Tavastia last Sunday the 10th of May. Chaoszine interviewed the Swedish metal music veteran Mikael Stanne, vocalist to Cemetery Skyline, The Halo Effect, Dark Tranquility and Grand Cadaver.
During Cemetery Skyline’s brief Finnish tour, Stanne explains that the band is finally finding its groove. According to him, there are people travelling from all over the world to witness the group play in Finland.
“The front row is the same no matter the city we’re in.”
Furthermore in the discussion Stanne explains how Cemetery Skyline came to be and what it is like touring with yet another new band.
“It’s fun to be nervous again, to feel anxious if the people are going to be there for us or not.”
Another one of Stanne’s projects is the melodic death metal -band The Halo Effect. Their only show in Finland this summer takes place at Kaaos Festival in July. Stanne explains how writing for The Halo Effect is a fresh change compared to Dark Tranquility, which has a long history and a established fanbase.
“With The Halo Effect there are no expectations. I can write about stuff I could never write about otherwise.”
With a career lasting over 30 years Mikael Stanne is a veteran of his craft, yet he still has inspiration and energy to continue. However, in the start he did not expect music to become his life’s work.
“I never thought I was going to make music for more than 5 years.”
