Hungrs: the thunderous roar of a Brazilian father-and-son band

Author Hernan Osuna - 20.3.2025

As part of its recommended bands segment, Chaoszine.net introduces Hungrs, a metal duo formed by father and son (Marcos and Lucca Hunger) from Atibaia, São Paulo, Brazil.

Lucca, who is 16 years old, composes and records all the instruments (drums, guitars, and bass). Marcos, now 44, writes the lyrics and sings the vocals.

The pair has recently shared their debut album “Simbiose” and Chaoszine sat down with the Brazilians to learn about the LP, the upcoming plans and more:

What are your plans for 2025?

Marcos: We just released our debut album, “Simbiose”, on February 10th, so the goal for 2025 is to get as many people as possible to know our work. For that, besides the four music videos we’ve already released, we’re working on a few more, and we’re also making the most of the exposure from magazines, websites, Instagram pages, and YouTube channels that talk about music and feature us.
I also want to take this opportunity to thank you, Hernán, for the opportunity and the space, especially in a phenomenal country for metal like Finland. It’s also time for us to start looking for some stages (initially in Brazil) to play small shows or open for other bands—which helps get our music out to audiences who enjoy the genre but don’t know us yet.

Who are your influences, and how do you manage being two people live? Do you call other musicians?

Lucca: My influences are, for the most part, Korn, Slipknot, Gojira, Tremonti, Deftones and many more.
We are a 2 people project, so we have to call musicians to play our songs live. We just did an open rehearsal only for family/friends, and for that we had Rafa Freitas on rhythm guitar, Allan Introini on lead guitar and Thoto on bass (thank you so much guys!). I play the drums, because it’s kind of my main instrument, but I played one song on guitar, just for that switch (thanks, Vodz, for taking over the drums!). It all went very well live, it was very fun.

Marcos: My influences, especially for the sound we create, are Slipknot, Deftones, Korn, Sevendust, and Staind… You won’t necessarily hear that in my voice or the way I sing, but they are definitely part of my inspiration as a musician!

I imagine that sharing a band strengthens the bond between father and son, right? What can you tell me about this?

Marcos: We definitely spend more time together because of this, and we’re creating something that we both love—and that’s truly magical, especially for me as a father. I left music behind in my early twenties, and being able to breathe this air again (especially with my son) is a double gift from life.

Lucca: Yeah, I really think so. Being father and son already keeps us together, but having that project is something else. We’re always talking about it, listening to it, and most importantly, creating music together. We have almost the same music taste, and that helps a lot on the process.

“Simbiose” is Hungrs‘ debut album. Each song brings to light the essence of this father and son duo, and the intensity that defines the heavy sound of this journey – which is only just beginning. The LP was mixed and mastered by Jonathas Peschiera.
