Swindon, UK’s metallic hardcore and sludge fusion outfit Heriot has unleashed a brutal new single titled “Commander of Pain.” Released via Century Media, the track pushes the band’s already ferocious sound into even darker territory, filled with buzzsaw riffs, thunderous drumming, and a vicious vocal trade-off that cuts deep. The single is now available to stream on all major platforms.

According to the band, the song nods to 90s death metal while channeling the raw energy they’ve honed on stage. That intent comes through fast, because the arrangement shifts from cavernous groove to grinding tremolo before collapsing into a massive, slow-churning finale. Produced by Loathe’s Erik Bickerstaffe and mixed by Randy LeBoeuf, the track carries a dense and punishing low end that hits with precision.

Following their acclaimed debut album “Devoured by the Mouth of Hell,” this release marks another huge step forward for Heriot. The band continues to carve its own space within modern heavy music, merging intensity, atmosphere, and relentless aggression. Because of this, their upcoming live shows are set to feel even more explosive.

“Commander of Pain” is streaming now below, and the official video will arrive later today.
