Here’s how the sound is perfected and improved – review of “We Should Be Buried Like This” by Bloodred Hourglass

Author Benedetta Baldin - 27.9.2025

Just like nobody does pizza like italians, nobody does heavy metal like the Finns. And these particular Finnish gentlemen are of the highest order. You might know them as Bloodred Hourglass, who are about to release their upcoming album “We Should Be Buried Like This” on October 3rd via Out Of Line Music.

When bands are described as “powerhouse”, not all of the times this label is correct. But in their case, it’s more than appropriate: this album is a relentless and yet structured assault, that will satisfy the modern metal listener without any difficoulties. The choices as singles so far has been excellent, as these tracks are exemplary sneak peeks of what’s to come.

The mixing, mastering and production are done very good, and I’m a super fan of the electronic elements they have sprinkled throughout the tracks. Like in “Royally Done“, they’re more than just embellishments: they’re key parts of what the band is trying to deliver to the listener. The true potential of the group, however, is revealed in the magnificent “God Has Favourites” and in the closing track “Vividus“.

If you thought that was all that’s awesome about this album, well, you’re wrong. There are three guest vocalists who add a fresh touch to the band’s music, and it feels like the band is not afraid to experiment and push their boundaries as far as they can. Musically, lyrically and in songwriting. After all, that’s what great artists do.

So hopefully you’ve marked October 3rd on your calendar for more than Mean Girls day. Because Bloodred Hourglass are here to stay, and they’ve proven it once again with this fantastic record. “We Should Be Buried Like This” is a new standard for metal, and it won’t be so easy to reach it.
