Scottish blackened speed metal project Hellripper has released “Coronach”, the title track from its upcoming album. The song is available now below and on streaming platforms.
The song and album takes its name from a traditional Scottish funeral lament. As a result, it continues James McBain’s long standing focus on local history, folklore, and language. That connection to Scottish heritage has remained central to Hellripper’s identity, and “Coronach” reinforces that approach without shifting away from the project’s established sound.
Musically, the track stays firmly rooted in Hellripper’s sound but also shows a calmer side. However, the songwriting remains tight and direct, which keeps the focus on momentum rather than excess.
