US metalcore veterans Haste the Day have officially kicked off their next chapter with the new single “Shallows”. It’s their first new song in nearly two years and also the first from their upcoming album.
The new full length, titled “Dissenter”, will arrive on May 1 via Solid State Records. “Shallows” opens the record and offers the first real glimpse into the band’s current direction. According to the band, the album features eleven tracks that blend classic metalcore roots with a more controlled and modern sound.
Musically, “Shallows” leans heavily on the elements that defined Haste the Day early on. At the same time, the production feels sharper and more contemporary. Tight guitar riffs push the song forward, while the balance between melody and harsher vocal parts creates a strong sense of movement throughout the track.
Formed in the early 2000s, Haste the Day helped shape metalcore during its formative years. In recent times, the band has kept a relatively low profile. However, this new release makes it clear that the comeback is deliberate and focused. With “Shallows”, the band shows a willingness to stay true to their identity without simply repeating the past.
