Green Lung started off performing for tiny crowds at neighbourhood pubs in London. The band then signed with the German independent label Kosmic Artifactz, where they released their debut EP, “Free the Witch”, in 2018 and their first LP, “Woodland Rites”, in March 2019. The relevant specialised press gave this latter release a great deal of positive reviews. In 2020, they signed with Svart Records, a Finnish label that specialises in doom metal. The band selected Svart over an unidentified larger label, according to vocalist Tom Templar, who described them as the “last bastion of music industry good” in an interview. Before releasing the album “Black Harvest” in October of that year, the band performed at the Bloodstock festival in 2021. Reviews for this release were favourable once more.
