Danish metalcore act Gradience have dropped a new single and video for “Master To The Slave”. It’s the first taste of their forthcoming debut full-length on Metal Blade Records.

“Master To The Slave” draws from personal experience. Guitarist Jakob Harris explains the song addresses vocalist Gavin Mistry’s struggle with self-destructiveness. The video reinforces that theme visually. A hangman’s noose transforms into a crown of rope, representing Mistry gaining the upper hand over what could destroy him.

Harris describes the band’s approach as using rap as one emotional tool alongside screaming and melody, noting that emotional connection drives every vocal decision.

Gradience formed in 2022 after Harris and Mistry connected at a Copenhagen show by local deathcore act Cabal. Harris came from a visual art and music background, while Mistry brought experience from various hip-hop projects. The band, completed by drummer Frederik Kjelstrup Hansen and bassist Patrick Petersen, built a sound fusing blackened death metal with trap-rap.

Their 2024 debut EP “Ironsight” earned praise from press and nominations for EP of the Year and Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the Danish Heavy Awards, and eventually landed them a deal with Metal Blade Records.

The new full-length arrives later in 2026 via Metal Blade Records.
