Texas heavyweights Gore. have kicked off the year with a bang, dropping their brand-new single “Sepsis” just days before their set at this weekend’s Download Festival.
The track is their first new material since last year’s EP “A Bud That Never Blooms”, and it hits hard—both musically and emotionally. Lyrically, “Sepsis” is rooted in a deeply personal story. According to vocalist Haley Roughton, it’s based on the experience of a friend who was in a turbulent relationship with someone whose bipolar disorder went untreated. The lyrics are written from his perspective, exploring the emotional toll of loving someone through a painful, one-sided struggle.
The accompanying video keeps things raw and minimalist. It features only Haley and a body double, visually representing the feeling of being trapped inside your own mind—mirroring the song’s themes of isolation and mental chaos.
“Sepsis” is available now on all major platforms.
