Longtime members of Godsmack, drummer Shannon Larkin and guitarist Tony Rombola, have officially left the band. The band’s lead singer Sully Erna announced the news on social media, saying the decision was made in good faith. Both musicians want to focus on a quieter life away from touring.
Larkin and Rombola have been a significant part of Godsmack’s history for almost three decades. Their contributions have shaped the band’s music and message to fans around the world. While their departure marks the end of an era, Erna also sees new opportunities for the band’s future.
Currently on Godsmack’s European tour, Will Hunt (Evanescence) and Sam Koltun (Dorothy) fill the drummer and guitarist positions, while the band continues to perform for large audiences and plan for the future under the leadership of Sully Erna and bassist Robbie Merrill.
Shannon Larkin commented on the decision in a video, which has since been removed. She stressed that the decision to stop touring was not due to physical reasons, but a desire to spend more time at home with loved ones. She assured that relations with the other members of the band are still warm and wished the replacement musicians success.
The band’s latest album “Lighting Up The Sky” was released in February 2023 and last year the band released the compilation album “Godsmack Power Hour”.
