Author Benedetta Baldin - 14.3.2026

Right now, Ghost is taking some much-needed time off, as per theprp. As genius Tobias Forge tries to make up for lost time with his family, their plans for the coming year are still up in the air. But on March 13, the band released the 25th installment of their ongoing online narrative, continuing the story of their ecclesiastical universe. In it, Cardinal Copia, the band’s former lead singer, struggles with life after Ghost in his new position as Frater Imperator. He also decides to go on vacation in a piece of art that mimics reality, but it appears that his intentions have abruptly ended.

The Swedish rock group Ghost was founded in Linköping in 2006. The band became well-known throughout the world after releasing their first album, “Opus Eponymous”, in 2010. “Infestissumam” (2013) and “Meliora” (2015), which peaked at number one in Sweden and number eight in the US, came next. The albums “Impera” in 2022 and “Prequelle” in 2018 came next. “Skeletá”, the band’s sixth studio album, debuted in 2025 and went on to become their first number one on the US Billboard 200 chart.

With the exception of the lead vocalist, Ghost‘s members are referred to as “Nameless Ghouls” because to their costumed on-stage presence. For earlier tours, the lead vocalist changed his stage name to “Papa Emeritus,” a character recognized for its “demonic anti-pope” imagery. The band’s music blends pop rock, arena rock, heavy metal, and hard rock. Tobias Forge was identified as the main singer in 2017 after a number of musicians who had collaborated with him on the Ghost project filed a lawsuit over payments. The band was nominated for multiple Swedish Grammy Awards, and their single “Cirice” (from the album “Meliora”) won them a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance in 2016.
