Vienna-based metalcore outfit Veritate has recently shared a new single titled “Eclipse“, and on the occasion of the launch, we had a chat with them.
Since its formation in 2024, the Viennese quintet Veritate has dedicated itself to creating distinctive and lasting art. The result is an authentic and powerful expression of their personal experiences and beliefs.
Veritate blends the key elements of metalcore with various other genres, ranging from alternative all the way to post black metal. A unique and sophisticated soundscape is created with every song.
During the first few days of November, Chaoszine sat down with the band to learn a little more about their philosophy, influences, sound, and more:
What are the band’s influences? I suspect you draw on a wide variety of sources, right?
Well, yeah, we all grew up listening to different kinds of music, and this still shows in our songs today. Tariel’s (Immler, guitarist) songwriting is based on modern metalcore with bands like Breakdown of Sanity or Polaris. Jakob’s (Defranceschi, drummer) songwriting is rooted in metalcore as well, but he also brings in influences from other genres like post-black metal – his favourite band being Harakiri for the Sky. In terms of lyrics, we draw a lot of inspiration from Linkin Park, since their lyrics have always touched us.

You have toured and are still touring with 20Tokens across various European countries. How is everything going? What can you tell us about the experience?
It’s been f**cking awesome. We still can’t wrap our heads around the fact that we get to do something like this just one year after we released our first song! It’s demanding as well, of course, especially since we don’t have a big crew and have to do many things on our own. Big shout-out to our manager, Chiara! She’s really got our backs! But yeah, touring with 20tokens feels like travelling with a group of friends. We’re really grateful for the opportunity.
Tell me about “Eclipse”, your latest single and video. What is the song about?
The song actually came together in just two days. Tariel wrote the instrumental in a few hours, and afterwards we met up to write the lyrics and record the vocals. It was quite the creative rush! Fun fact: The vocals you hear on the record were actually recorded in Max’s room for the demo we made back then.
The song itself is about fleeing a toxic environment and trying to find a safe space somewhere else. We’ve captured these emotions artistically in our music video.
Austria has a strong tradition in classical music, but there are excellent bands across all styles. How is the metal scene in Vienna?
Since we’re still quite new to the Viennese metal scene, we actually can’t tell you that much about it. Most of us moved here right before we started the band, so we‘re just taking our first steps now. But we were greeted with lots of love and support so far.

What message is Veritate trying to convey?
Well, our name actually stems from the Latin word “Veritas”, meaning “truth”. Our lyrics are created in a state of brutally honest self-reflection, even when facing the truth isn‘t comfortable. For us, this process is necessary to grow. So to keep it short: Be honest with yourself and others.
