German metalcore outfit Samurai Pizza Cats have released a new single titled “City of Gold”. The band formed in 2021 has built a growing fanbase with mixing heavy riffs and bright hooks. The new track keeps that mix alive, and it adds a warmer tone that lifts the chorus. The track can be listened below alongside with an official video.
The group move with fast cuts that give the visuals extra drive, and the song gains even more energy. Because the band shift between bright melody and tight rhythm with ease, the track feels bold and fresh. Fans reacted quickly, and many said the song hints at a more confident phase for the band.
Inside the band you’ve got vocalist Sebastian Fischer, guitarist Daniel Haniß, bassist Stefan Reufer, and drummer Stefan Buchwald. Daniel Haniß is also the guitarist in the more mainstream outfit Electric Callboy, and Fischer and Buchwald previously worked together in the band Fall of Gaia. Before that, Haniß and Fischer shared time in the band Her Smile in Grief, so this project connects several familiar faces from the German metal-scene.
If you enjoy bright metalcore with heavy rhythm and a sweeter edge, then “City of Gold” belongs on your playlist.
