In their February 20th show at L’Auberge Casino Resort Lake Charles in Lake Charles, Louisiana, KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons and his solo band, Gene Simmons Band, played two KISS songs composed by Ace Frehley for the first time ever, as per Blabbermouth. “Strange Ways” and “Rocket Ride” were among the 14 songs played during the Gene Simmons Band’s first performance of 2026. The band was comprised of Gene on bass and vocals, Jason Walker on guitar and vocals, Brian Tichy on drums and vocals, and Brent Woods on guitar. Peter Criss, the drummer for KISS, sang “Strange Ways” on the band’s 1974 album “Hotter Than Hell.”
Last year’s 50th anniversary super deluxe edition of “Alive!”—KISS‘s groundbreaking double live album—featured a previously unseen recording of Simmons performing “Strange Ways” during a July 20, 1975 practice in Davenport, Iowa. Written by Frehley and Sean Delaney, a KISS associate, “Rocket Ride” was first featured on the band’s “Alive II” album. Ace subsequently stated that “Rocket Ride” was originally written by him and Delaney with the goal of incorporating it into his solo album. However, it ultimately appeared on “Alive II” instead.
This is the setlist that Simmons and his band played.
