Gary Holt doesn’t think Slayer will make a comeback any time soon: “To my knowledge, it’ll never happen again”

Thrash metal veterans Slayer have finally had a well-deserved rest after a long career. The band played their last concerts in November 2019, after which we can only speculate whether we will see the longtime metal veterans together on the same stage again.

Guitarist Gary Holt has previously been asked whether the thrash legend could return to the stage. However, in a recent interview with the Scard And Guitars podcast, Holt reiterates his view that the band is not coming back.

“I highly doubt it… To my knowledge, it’ll never happen again. To my knowledge, I don’t know at the same time. Maybe someday someone just offers so much money that it changes people’s minds. But the band went out on a fucking super-high note, on top, and why sully that? I mean, we’ve already outlasted Mötley Crüe‘s retirement. [Laughs] Well, theirs has gone a little longer because of the pandemic, but it took them — what? — a year to decide they’d tour again.”

It remains to be seen whether someone will offer a large enough sum of money for Slayer’s return at some point in the future.

Kerry King recently commented that he already misses playing, and feels that Slayer quit too early.
