Exodus guitarist and principal songwriter Gary Holt has revealed that fans will need to wait until 2026 for the band’s next album, the follow-up to 2021’s “Persona Non Grata.” In a recent interview with Laughingmonkeymusic’s Shawn Ratches, Holt discussed the band’s decision to extend their writing process.
“We were initially aiming for a fall release, but we needed more time for songwriting,” Holt explained. “While we’re entering the studio in a few weeks, rushing the mixing and production process wouldn’t serve the music well.“
Holt emphasized the band’s commitment to maintaining their high standards, particularly following the success of their previous release. “The last album was phenomenal. I’m always trying to top the previous one, and this needs to be as good as or better than ‘Persona,’ which I consider our second-best album after ‘Bonded By Blood.‘”
When discussing Exodus‘s history of distinctive vocalists, including Paul Baloff, Steve “Zetro” Souza, and Rob Dukes, Holt reflected on the unique challenges facing metal frontmen. “It’s a demanding role – you don’t have a guitar to hide behind. You’re exposed with just a microphone in hand.“
