The Portuguese post-black metallers Gaerea are back with another track off their upcoming album, “Loss,” which will be out in a little more than a month, as per theprp. Below is a music video for “The Nomad,” which was once again directed by Pavel Trebukhin for the masked group. “Loss” will be released by Century Media on March 20th.
‘The Nomad‘ is the individual who goes through life at a constant moving pace just to avoid facing oneself—physically drifting, but emotionally running from guilt, self-doubt, and a fear of becoming something to despise. At its core, it’s a confession of alienation: a nomad not by choice, but by self-punishment and inner collapse.

The band was formed in Porto in 2016 on the initiative of guitarist and composer Guilherme Henriques and singer Ruben Freitas, who shortly afterwards brought together a number of musicians from the local scene to record the eponymous EP, released in November of the same year on Everlasting Spew. From the outset, the intention was to present the band in a completely anonymous manner, characterised by all-black clothing and masks bearing a seal symbolising, according to Henriques, the sense of unity of Gaerea; the choice of colour was due to the need to represent ‘great chaos’ and to focus the audience’s attention on the music rather than on each individual member.
