Alex Møklebust, frontman of the Norwegian industrial rock bands Seigmen and Zeromancer, has contracted the Covid-19 virus. As a result of his illness, the three Seigmen shows planned for December 2021 in Norway have been postponed.

In a press release, Seigmen explain the seriousness of the situation as follows:

“In the middle of October we got the message we had all dreaded since the outbreak of covid-19 pandemic, Alex had contracted the virus and was rushed off to hospital. Because of an impaired immune system, our dear lead singer is very much at risk for serious complications. The situation went from bad to worse, and for a while we feared the worst. Then, thanks to experimental medication and a strong will, he started to recover.”

Alex Møklebust himself adds:

“To all friends and fans of Seigmen. I’m finally out of the hospital and have started training and rehabilitation. This has been a very tough experience for me, both physically and mentally, and it will take time to recover. The thought of getting back on stage and to meet our fans again is a big motivation, and I’m really looking forward to the day that happens. Until then I will need time to focus on my health, and I hope you all understand the need for me to withdraw for a while. Thank you for being there, I’m very much looking forward to see you all again next year!”

Seigmen continue:

“Unfortunately, this means that we can’t perform as planned in December. We have spent some time to get a clear picture of the situation and to find alternative dates for the three gigs in question. […] Purchased tickets will be valid for the new date without any action. If you don’t want to hang on to your ticket we will of course give you a refund. Instructions on how to do this will be sent out to all ticketholders by email shortly. Seigmen does not like to disappoint our audience and we always do our best to deliver. This time we have no choice. We hope that many of you will hang on to your ticket and we promise to return with a vengeance next summer!”

The gig at “Folken” in Stavanger has been postponed from 16 December 2021 to 25 May 2022. The gig at “Støperiet” in Tønsberg will take place on 17 December 2022, instead of 18 December 2021. And last but not least, the gig in Oslo has not only a new date but also a new venue: It will take place on 19 August 2022 at “Rockefeller”, instead of 17 December 2021 at “Sentrum Scene”.

Seigmen were founded in 1989 and enjoyed great success during the 1990s, particularly in their home country Norway. When Seigmen split in 1999, three members of the band – Alex Møklebust (vocals), Kim Ljung (bass / backing vocals) and Noralf Ronthi (drums) – went on to form a new band: Zeromancer. With songs like “Clone Your Lover“, “Doctor Online“, “Need You Like A Drug” and the Real Life cover “Send Me An Angel“, Zeromancer gained international recognition. Their latest studio album, “Orchestra Of Knives”, was released in September 2021. Since 2005, next to Zeromancer, Seigmen have reunited for sporadic reunion tours. In 2015, Seigmen even released a new studio album, entitled “Enola”.
