From ordinary to outstanding – review of Blitzkrieg’s self-titled upcoming album

Author Benedetta Baldin - 14.8.2024

Each band is different, as well as each album they make is different. When I write reviews, with some records the quality is consistent from the first second to the last song. In others, it varies, and that is what makes music interesting. Sometimes you don’t know what to expect, and sometimes you can be pleasantly surprised by what you’re listening to. This is exactly what happened when I listened to Blitzkrieg‘s upcoming self-titled album.

The standard that each song has starts very low in the beginning; not because the tracks are of low quality, but because they contain sounds that have already been used so many times. While the melodies are interesting, as I said the first few tracks start in a rocky way. There is to say though that the production, mixing and mastering are done quite well, so at least the experience of listening is enjoyable.

But then, like in a fairytale, the frog turns into a beautiful prince, or in this case, five Prince Charming, ready to unsheath their best skills and their deepest talents. From Brian Ross on vocals to Matthew Graham on drums, the group is solid and they’re ready to give it all for us with this new release.

Starting with “Vertigo” and ending with the magnificent opus “Aprhodite’s Kiss“, the band has proved once again that they know how to do heavy metal, and they know how to do it well. The sophisticated structure of the songs, mixed with some fantastic acoustic moments is a winning move in my book. Their approach to never being satisfied with their result has pushed their limit even further, which led them to explore new territories, almost reaching a speed/thrash metal sound in certain moments.

So it is my duty to advise you, don’t miss “Blitzkrieg” when it comes out next month. It’s NWOBHM but with a modern and elegant touch, it’s more than just an album when you look at it deeply. It’s an experience that will leave you renewed, and with more acknowledgement of what you can do.
