Yesterday (5 February 2026), the Swedish dark metal band Katatonia kicked off their North American tour in Montclair, New Jersey, and some attendees may have wondered if there had been a change in the band’s lineup. This is indeed the case, though only temporarily:

“Due to visa complications, Nico is unfortunately unable to join us on guitar for this run in North America. We’re very pleased to welcome Henrik Palm, who’ll be covering guitar for the shows in Nicos absence. Henrik is a phenomenal musician and we’re excited to have him bringing his energy and experience to the stage with the band.”

Henrik Palm, known for his involvement with the Swedish rock heavyweights Ghost (as well as with In Solitude and other projects) and for his solo work, adds:

“Im very honored to take the guitar duties with Katatonia on the upcoming North American tour! As some of you might know I’ve done a couple of albums with Daniel Moilanen in the past and present so finally me and him can do a proper tour together. Playing the music of Katatonia is a new and challenging experience for me so fingers crossed I don’t mess up too badly. Hell awaits!”

Katatonia assure fans that Nico Elgstrand “will of course be back and joining us for the Latin American leg of the tour”:

“Thank you for the understanding and support, we can’t wait to see you all out there!”
