The recent split between The Amity Affliction and vocalist/bassist Ahren Stringer has taken a new turn, with Stringer breaking his silence on social media about his departure from the band.
In a statement posted Saturday (February 15), Stringer revealed: “Not trying to start anymore issues, but I have been kicked out of my band. I will NEVER play with The Amity Affliction (who blocked me by the way). Love you all x.“
This follows the band’s official statement released on February 14, where they addressed the deteriorating relationship between Stringer and the group. “We acknowledge that we have all had our fair share of issues over the years,” the band wrote. “But sadly, over time the relationship between Ahren and the band has completely broken down while he has been dealing with challenging elements of his personal life.“
The separation comes after several years of complications, including tour cancellations reportedly related to Stringer’s personal struggles with addiction and mental health issues. The band’s statement acknowledged these challenges while addressing the impact on their professional commitments.
Despite the apparent tension, The Amity Affliction concluded their statement on a conciliatory note: “The music we’ve created with Ahren will forever bind us and we are thankful for the good times we had together. We wish Ahren all the best in his personal and professional future.“
The news marks the end of Stringer’s long-standing tenure with the Australian metalcore band, which he helped establish as one of the founding members.
