The four musicians that Ace Frehley personally selected for his 2018 Australian tour — Philip Shouse on bass, Ryan Spencer Cook on guitar/vocals, Jeremy Asbrock on guitar/vocals, and Christopher Williams on drums — are going back to the nation where it all started, this time in remembrance of the renowned original KISS guitarist, as per Blabbermouth. Along with KISS hits, Frehley’s Comet anthems, additional Ace solo tracks, and the deep cuts for the ardent fans, they will play the entirety of Frehley‘s 1978 solo album. Kiss Klassic, Adelaide’s elite collective, which is only brought together for events of this magnitude and has strong ties to the Kiss universe (they have performed with both Bruce Kulick and Paul Stanley), will provide support for the journey by performing a carefully chosen selection of Ace deep cuts.
Brisbane-based KISSIT, one of Australia’s most renowned KISS tributes, will also be on the bill, performing a 1982–1992 set. On April 17, Shouse, Cook, Asbrock, and Williams will perform a Frehley tribute show at Madison, Tennessee’s Eastside Bowl.
Asbrock, Cook, Shouse, and Williams played as the Gene Simmons Band with KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons in 2018. Simmons was supposed to return to KISS to get ready for the “End Of The Road” tour, so the foursome was asked to join Ace‘s band. Willams was unable to accept the invitation because of a previous engagement with the German metal band Accept, but Asbrock, Cook, and Shouse did.
At the age of 74, Frehley passed away in October. According to a report from the Morris County Medical Examiner, the founding KISS guitarist passed away from blunt-trauma injuries sustained to his head after a fall. The cause of death was determined to be an accident.
