Thrash metal veterans Forbidden are gearing up for a special European tour this August. The Bay Area legends, despite parting ways with guitarist Steve Smyth last year, are pushing forward to celebrate two significant milestones: their 40th anniversary as a band and the 35th anniversary of their landmark 1990 album “Twisted Into Form.”
Guitarist Craig Locicero shared the exciting news on February 7th, stating: “We’re excited to announce that Forbidden will finally be touring Europe on a semi extended run through festival season this year!“
He reflected on the band’s history: “2025 holds a couple of significant anniversaries for the band… Forbidden Evil formed 40 years ago, in March of 1985. Crazy, right? I was 15 years old when Russ Anderson, Robb Flynn & myself started the band.” He also highlighted the importance of “Twisted Into Form,” which featured the late Tim Calvert.
The tour will feature the band performing “Twisted Into Form” in its entirety, alongside other classic tracks. Major festival appearances include Wacken, Alcatraz, Hellsinki Metal Festival, and Motocultor, with additional shows planned across Germany, the UK, and the Netherlands.
Locicero also revealed that the band is currently working on new material with their revamped lineup, which includes Voivod‘s Daniel Mongrain replacing Smyth, alongside bassist Matt Camacho, vocalist Norman Skinner, and drummer Chris Kontos. The guitarist expressed enthusiasm about the writing process, promising “a thrash ripper” while emphasizing their focus on quality over quantity in terms of live appearances.
The new album is expected to be completed before their August tour dates, marking a fresh chapter in Forbidden‘s storied career.
