Foo Fighters have confirmed they will be headlining Rock am Ring and Rock im Park festivals after Pantera were kicked out from the bill earlier this week, due to accusations of racism.
“Germany – we’ll see you Friday, June 2nd at Rock Am Ring and Sunday, June 4th at Rock Im Park! Tickets on sale now!” said Foo Fighters via Instagram.
Pantera had been removed from the bill amid public outcry and political pressure. The controversy stems from the past racist gestures of Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo.
During a 2016 performance at the Dimebash event, which celebrated Pantera‘s late guitarist Dimebag Darrell Abbott, Anselmo, was filmed onstage doing a Nazi-style gesture while uttering the phrase ‘white power’.
The frontman would eventually apologize for his actions that night, claiming he was joking about drinking white wine backstage and was reacting to the audience members up front who he said were taunting him. In 2019, Anselmo would go on to describe his actions on that night as being a “an off-color joke.”
Foo Fighters will join the two festival lineups alongside Rise Against, Limp Bizkit, Kings Of Leon, Tenacious D, Bring Me The Horizon, Machine Gun Kelly and more.
