Swedish sludge and doom trio Firebreather have returned with “Shrines,” the latest single from their upcoming fourth album “Blood That I Spill Turns To Fire.” The Gothenburg band formed in 2016 and has built its sound across three previous full lengths. Now they push forward with new material through Heavy Psych Sounds.
Formed in Gothenburg in 2016, Firebreather has built its sound around sludge and doom across three previous full-length albums. The current lineup features Mattias Nööjd on vocals and guitar, Jacob Madetoja on bass, and Joakim Olsson on drums.
For the new record, the band brought in Tommy Hanning on drums, who had played with Firebreather during the recording of their debut. He learned the songs from his home in northern Sweden, then flew down for a weekend of rehearsals before the sessions. They tracked the album with Joona Hassinen at Studio Underjord.
