Finnish melodic death/doom metal outfit Serpent God has unleashed their latest track, “Keyhole,” adding another ominous layer to the buildup for their debut album “Denial,” due out October 10th via Inverse Records.
So far, the band has rolled out a string of singles: “Repent” arrived in May, followed by “Oblivion” in June and “Sermon” in July. Each track has leaned into dark, ritualistic, and eerie atmospheres—“sermon” in particular drew attention for its driving riffs, heavy double-kick drums, and choral backing that recalls the ritualistic underpinnings of ’90s Swedish metal.
Formed in 2023 in Iisalmi, Finland, the band emerged from the creative overflow of the band Se, josta ei puhuta—the material that didn’t quite fit that project’s style found a more haunting home in this new incarnation. Their sound blends extreme metal roots with post-rock and doom elements, while flirting with avant-garde textures.
