Boston deathrock and hardcore outfit Final Gasp have made “Aftermath” available to stream online. The track originally appeared as an exclusive flexi-disc release through Decibel magazine and was recorded during the sessions for the band’s 2026 album “New Day Symptoms”.
The song’s wider availability gives listeners who did not obtain the physical magazine a chance to hear material from the same studio period. It is not being presented as a newly announced album or as a replacement for an upcoming full-length release.
Final Gasp released “New Day Symptoms” through Relapse Records in February. The album builds on the band’s mix of deathrock, post-punk and hardcore, following their earlier full-length “Mourning Moon”.
“Aftermath” was already announced as part of the magazine’s Flexi Series in August. The physical recording accompanied the November 2026 issue, while the new development is the free online stream, which premiered on October 27.
That distinction is important: the song is not a surprise first appearance in October, but the first broadly accessible stream of a previously limited-format track. Decibel has now made the recording available alongside its premiere report.
The Flexi Series has long used collectible discs to bring exclusive music to subscribers. With “Aftermath” appearing online, fans can now hear a piece of the sessions that did not make the album’s regular tracklist.

Final Gasp’s capacity to amalgamate opposing forces into a vibrant and innovative entity is inherently embedded within their essence. Emerging from Boston’s avant-garde hardcore scene, which produced influential bands such as Converge, Isis, and Cave In, they initially drew inspiration from Glenn Danzig’s cult horror punk ensemble, Samhain.
The endeavor to cultivate a sound that not only integrates but transcends their musical heritage and fervent passions necessitated profound introspection, guiding them along a path characterized by open-ended possibilities. The interim moments represent the realms where transformative creativity flourishes.
Nocturnal restlessness, marked by 4 a.m. contemplations, evokes the lingering remnants of unresolved matters. This acute awareness of the implicit challenges that dawn presents, coupled with seemingly trivial thoughts imbued with newfound significance, unfolds in a manner that conventional daylight cannot illuminate.
