“Crowned In Ash” is a new standalone single by Fimbul Winter, a new Swedish death metal band that includes three former members of Amon Amarth, as per Blabbermouth. Fimbul Winter pays tribute to the tradition of its death metal roots by creating a sound that is heavy, melodic, and atmospheric while taking a contemporary approach. After their debut EP “What Once Was” in 2025, Fimbul Winter‘s most recent release is “Crowned In Ash“. The project features former Amon Amarth drummer Fredrik Andersson on lead guitar, original Amon Amarth members Niko Kaukinen on drums, and Anders Biazzi (previously Anders Hansson) on guitar. Clint Williams’ vocals round out the lineup.

“Crowned In Ash” marks the beginning of Fimbul Winter‘s further investigation and advancement of melodic death metal. Fimbul Winter incorporates strength, vitality, and intensity into all of their musical offerings by drawing on their expertise and experience in Amon Amarth and pushing their creative boundaries. With captivating melodic leads, “Crowned In Ash” emerges from the flames in an alluring soundscape. While Williams’s enormous vocals are unleashed above and guitar lines continue to entwine throughout the instrumental layers, driving rhythms take precedence and propel the track onwards.
The choruses in “Crowned In Ash” are dominated by an authoritative force. In order to give the vocal performance and progressions room to land with a resounding impact, the fast speed loosens its hold. While utilising engulfing, fluctuating dynamics throughout the musical arrangement, Fimbul Winter makes sure the track’s core theme stays captivating and consistent throughout. Engineer Andreas Moren recorded the drums and guitars for “Crowned In Ash” at Studio Fluff Vasteras, while Shaun Farrugia recorded the vocals at Witching Hour Audio.
