Extinction A.D. release new single anti-ICE with video “Thaw”

Author Benedetta Baldin - 18.3.2026

The new anti-authoritarian song “Thaw” by Extinction A.D. may now be downloaded and streamed, as per theprp. It includes the music video below. This song is the crossover group’s second release after they partnered with M-Theory Audio earlier this year. Rick Jimenez, a vocalist and guitarist from This Is Hell, discussed the political meaning of the song’s lyrics.

It’s very easy to assume writing an anti-authoritarian song is passé in heavy music in 2026, but as a band that exists in both the metal world and the hardcore world, it’s surprisingly polarizing. The ‘defenders of the status quo’ all the way to the ‘regressive back-to-the-past’ thinking infiltrating our scenes is purely bizarre to me. This song is an unabashed condemnation of the abuse of federal power in the ICE organization and the denial of celebrating racist and fascist ideals under the guise of supporting politicians.

The video for ‘Thaw’ was to bring like-minded people into our world and be just as, if not more, important than the four members of the band. It’s not just our song, it’s everyone’s song.
