The post-hardcore supergroup Evil Island has released their debut single “Tiger Baby”. The band is built around three former The Blood Brothers members, vocalist Johnny Whitney, guitarist and vocalist Cody Votolato, and drummer Mark Gajadhar. Bassist Autry Fulbright, known from OFF! and …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, rounds out the lineup.
Patrick Lascu directed, shot, and edited the accompanying video, which draws in a notable cast. Tim Kasher of Cursive, actor Kiowa Gordon, and the members of teenage hardcore outfit XCOMM, including Revel Ian, son of Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian, all appear on screen. Both XCOMM and Kasher have solo projects in the pipeline.
Producer Ross Robinson handled the recording and also signed the band to Blowed Out Records, the label he co-runs with Ghostemane and Bill Armstrong. The pairing carries history. Robinson previously produced The Blood Brothers’ 2003 album “Burn Piano Island, Burn,” and Whitney describes “Tiger Baby” as a track that captures the full range of the forthcoming record in a single song. Robinson, meanwhile, frames the album as a long-overdue creative reunion that delivered everything he had hoped for.
The limited 7-inch pressing, which includes exclusive B-side “King Death,” sold out its 300 copies shortly after going on sale.
