Simon Neil, the frontman of the Scottish rock band Biffy Clyro, noticed almost a decade ago that he shared a very similar taste in music with his bandmate Mike Vennart. The two sent each other the most different and twisted songs and eventually the two got the idea to start their own grindcore band which was named Empire State Bastard.
The duo asked the drummer-legend Dave Lombardo of Slayer and Suicidal Tendencies fame etc. to lend his drumming skills for the group and as a result of that the debut album called “Rivers Of Heresy” was released on September 1st via RoadRunner Records.
Chaoszine caught up with both Simon Neil and Mike Vennart via Zoom and talked with them about the birth of the band, the making of the debut album and the band’s outlook for the future. You can watch the entire video interview here:
