Ernesto Colon, the band Merauder‘s former guitarist, passed away, as per theprp. From 2013 to 2018, the latter performed with the NYC crossover veterans. He later performed in Dead Earth as well. On February 9th, Merauder paid homage to him by sharing the post below on social media.
Merauder was founded in 1990, and through a few demo releases and extensive touring, the band made a name for themselves in the New York hardcore and metal scene. After Minus Rodriguez was replaced as vocalist by Jorge Rosado, the band toured with Biohazard and recorded a split EP with Stigmata in 1995. Later that year, they published “Master Killer”, their full-length debut. In 1995, the band went on tour with Böhse Onkelz in Europe and secured a place opening for Fear Factory. In 1999, “Five Deadly Venoms”, another CD, was released. After releasing their 2003 album “Bluetality”, the band broke up.
Jorge Rosado, the band’s singer, started his own version in 2007. Guitarist Anthony Muccini, who succeeded the original guitarist “Karate” Chris Bozeth, openly objected to Rosado’s use of the moniker Merauder. However, Muccini is not an original member. The band went on headline tours in Europe, Japan, and the United States in 2008 after announcing the completion of a new album recorded at the Big Blue Meenie studios in Jersey City, New Jersey. Additionally, the band concluded their tour with The Agonist and The Haunted. “God Is I”, a new album, was released by Regain Records on August 11, 2009, and June 19, 2009, in Europe. Even though the European edition had numerous issues, Regain has only shipped the copies to Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and the Netherlands.
Merauder went on a European tour with Entombed and Devious in December 2009. Their most recent performance was at the Metal Meeting in Eindhoven, where they performed with Legion of the Damned, Nile, and Satyricon. The band toured Mexico and the US West Coast in May, performing at a festival in Las Vegas alongside Donnybrook and Grave Maker. Along with Bane, Cro-Mags, Sheer Terror, Death Before Dishonor, and others, they participated at the This is Hardcore festival in Philadelphia in August.
