Ensiferum to headline Europe in 2026 with Freedom Call and Dragony

Author Teemu Hakala - 29.9.2025

Finnish folk-metal stalwarts Ensiferum have announced a full European headline tour for early 2026. They’ll be joined by German power metal veterans Freedom Call as direct support, and Austrian symphonic power metal outfit Dragony opening each night.

The tour is intended to bring the band’s latest album, “Winter Storm”, to life on stage. Released in 2024, “Winter Storm” has been praised for its powerful songwriting, cinematic production, and the band’s evolving balance between folk, melodic death, and power metal elements. Much of the album’s material was composed during the COVID lockdown years, with founding guitarist Markus Toivonen credited for writing nearly every track except “Fatherland”, which was penned by bassist Sami Hinkka.

The album follows the trajectory started on “Thalassic” (2020), where vocalist/keyboardist Pekka Montin first added a broader clean-vocal dimension to the band’s sound. On “Winter Storm”, Montin’s voice fits comfortably within the band’s grand, epic material, complementing the band’s mix of melodic, harsh, and orchestral textures.

Alongside the tour announcement, Ensiferum released a new lyric video for “From Order to Chaos”, one of the album’s more dramatic tracks. The band promises a live set blending powerful anthems from “Winter Storm” with fan favorites from across their catalogue. The tour will stretch across more than twenty dates in Germany, Italy, Switzerland, France, the UK, and beyond.
