Somehow lately there have been quite a few interesting acts to listen to, and that’s why I enjoy reviewing music so much. Today’s offering comes from the United Kingdom, and they’re called As Everything Unfolds. The band is releasing a new album titled “DID YOU ASK TO BE SET FREE?” on April 10th, 2026 via Century Media Records.
This album is so intricate and psychological that I’ve had the best time listening to it. It may be the third album from the group, but it feels very emotionally mature and unapologetically genuine. Charlie Rolfe’s vocals are precise, direct and yet very expressive, while Adam Kerr provides some interesting riffs and melodies on his guitar.
George Hunt’s bass is a bit hidden in the otherwise excellent mixing, and Jon Cassidy’s wise use of drums is the perfect balance of fury and technique. Tracks like “BREAK IT AWAY” or “EDGE OF FOREVER” really show off the potential of the whole group, and “DID YOU ASK TO BE SET FREE?” becomes the best work of the band yet.
The way the album’s sound evolves over time is one of its most remarkable features. The sound of someone still holding themselves together is evident (and relatable!) in the tracks, which are melodic, structured, and grounded. The edges fray as the album goes on: sounds take on unexpected forms, rhythms become more erratic, and the production veers toward confusion.
The emotional arc is reflected in this evolution. The band allows the music to change along with the story; they don’t fight against it. It’s a risky decision that pays off. So don’t miss out on “DID YOU ASK TO BE SET FREE?”, when April 10th comes. As Everything Unfolds truly delivered a fabulous product!
