Electric Callboy showed why they deserve their headlining spot – Nova Rock day 4

As the Nova Rock festival 2025 was slowly coming to an end, some really nice bands were still on the program on the last day. In the afternoon I found myself watching Imminence and Landmvrks and in the evening I went to see Electric Callboy absolutely blowing away the crowd and close this magnificent festival.

Imminence

I think seeing Imminence is a must and I was very happy when I saw their name on the festival page a few months ago. For those who don’t know Imminence – they are a Swedish metalcore band, who incorporate the violin in their music. I expected more people watching them to be honest, that’s how good I think they are and also performed. With the violin incorporated in their songs, the metal music was given a more emotional touch, which I appreciated. The music was melodic and also felt in a way very melancholic. I think the band deserves a lot!

Landmvrks

Landmvrks is a band I only knew one song before seeing them at the festival, so I didn’t know what to expect. I was impressed by the variety of their music style and different songs tho, I must say. This French band played metalcore, up to some incorporated rap, slower, up to faster songs, softer and harder songs… every song felt different. I will definitely check out more of their music after the festival. The singer and the whole band also showed a good stage presence and jumped around quite a bit. One of the bands who surprised me the most on this festival!

Electric Callboy

It’s from their song “Hypa Hypa”, from a few years ago, that this German “party metal” band found their way into the metalhead’s hearts and playlists. I need to admit, it was my fifth time seeing them live, so I knew what to expect. Or so I thought – because this time EC brought a different set. Of course their hit songs were not missing, but they also brought a cover of Blink-182‘s “All the Small Things” (Travis Barker from Blink 182 plays drums in EC now), they covered “Crawling” by Linkin Park too and “I Want It That Way” by the Backstreet Boys. Electric Callboy also shared the stage with their tour manager and YouTube star Tank The Tech (Ian Roberts), who joined in and sang parts of their “Castrop X Spandau” song. A song I never expected to see live was also “Hurrikan“, the German Schlager song that turns into deathcore at the end. Definitely a very surprising setlist, which made my fifth time seeing them not boring at any level! The crowd was very pumped too!
One thing though I would really love to see this band play, is some of their older songs still released under their old name. Hopefully one day.
In the end, I think that Electric Callboy was just the right headliner to close this festival. With their energy, silliness on stage and just good metal music, they gave the crowd one last fun concert to remember from Nova Rock 2025.

Nova Rock already announced two bands coming next year, The Offspring and Bring Me The Horizon. Until next year then!
