American celtic punk veterans Dropkick Murphys have unveiled the official video for their new single “Chesterfields and Aftershave,” the latest from their album “For The People”. The song is a touching tribute to frontman Ken Casey’s late grandfather, a foundational influence in his life. Directed by Jon Vulpine, the video intersperses scenes of a young “Ken Casey” with archival footage of Boston’s Red Sox, Bruins, and Celtics games, including the memorable 2004 Red Sox World Series win. It ends with the refrain “I hope I’d make you proud” and footage of the band performing at Quincy’s 400th-anniversary free show—just a mile from where they first formed.
The single follows the earlier politically charged track “Who’ll Stand With Us?”, which called for unity and solidarity against growing divisions. The album “For The People” streamed starting July 4 with the physical CD and vinyl edition arriving October 10. That release will include five bonus tracks not featured on the digital version.
The bonus songs added to the physical release are: “Dropped On My Head,” “Take Your Bow,” “Straight Edge (I Liked You Better),” “A Hero Among Many,” and “Sirens.” The latter was previously available only as a digital single.
This release arrives just after Grandparents Day in the U.S. (September 7), making its familial theme especially fitting. The album overall continues the band’s tradition of speaking out on social issues, pairing punk roots with activism for workers’ rights and social justice.

In addition, Dropkick Murphys recently wrapped their co-headlining “Summer of Discontent” tour with Bad Religion and are slated to appear at several North American festivals before launching their European headline tour with Frank Turner and Haywire on October 15 in Milan.
