Wait and hope. This was the only motto for Dream Theater fans, because who would have thought that we would see the day when the band would reunite with Mike Portnoy? And yet, for the first time in fourteen years, Mike Portnoy appeared on stage with the band behind the drum kit at their eagerly anticipated return to London, which was simply and purely historic. Their 40th-anniversary tour began with this reunion, which rocked the capital and reminded us of the progressive metal brilliance that will never be forgotten. A sense of nostalgia mixed with happiness permeated the air as the band honoured the return of a significant contributor to their signature sound in addition to their storied career.
