Dream Theater to start working on new album with Mike Portnoy

Dream Theater are about to start writing their reunion album with drummer Mike Portnoy this month. The GRAMMY Award-winning prog metal band reunited with Portnoy this past October, after previously parting ways back in 2010.

In a recent interview with Guitar World, guitarist John Petrucci commented of when the band plans to work on the new album:

Well, very soon. So, we start the new album in less than two weeks. And we’re looking forward to it. It’s really exciting to have Portnoy back in the band. We started the band together.

We haven’t started working on new music. We haven’t written a note yet, but I’m sure when we get together, it’s just gonna be like old times. So, I’m really looking forward to doing that and diving in.
