Cleveland-based doom metal group Frayle has released a haunting reinterpretation of Lana Del Rey’s “Summertime Sadness”, accompanied by an official music video. The track is the second single from their upcoming album, “Heretics & Lullabies”, set to be released on October 10th via Napalm Records.

The band shared that they’ve always been drawn to songwriting with a touch of melancholy, no matter the genre. Their version of “Summertime Sadness” came together naturally, with the first rough mix from producer Aaron Chaparian locking in the atmosphere they were aiming for. A subtle pause before the breath leading into the chorus added an emotional edge that confirmed for the band they had something special.

“Heretics & Lullabies” will be Frayle’s third full-length release and features ten tracks in total, opening with “Walking Wounded” and including the new cover as its second entry. The group continues to blend doom, blackgaze, and ethereal vocals into what they describe as “lullabies of chaos,” creating a hypnotic and dark sonic palette.

The official video for “Summertime Sadness” leans into surreal, shadowy visuals that mirror the cover’s slowed-down, ritualistic tone. The single follows the earlier release of “Walking Wounded” and ramps up anticipation for the full album, which will be available in digital and various physical formats. Pre-orders are already live.
