The band’s beginnings can be traced back to their secondary school years at Bedford Modern School, when they performed at their first shows. However, they didn’t decide to become a band until they were enrolled at Nottingham University. “Summer fall” and “Club Sex” were among the various titles the band first adopted. “Don Loco” was one of the group’s concepts; however, after guitarist Simon Delaney broke his wrist in a football accident, the song was renamed Don Broco. In November 2008, they embarked on their first tour in England, performing in cities including Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester, Swindon, Watford, and County Durham.

They supported Enter Shikari on a brief series of performances in May 2009 and performed at the Camden Crawl and Download Festival in 2009. In 2009 and 2010, Don Broco also performed at the Underage Festival in London, UK’s Victoria Park. They performed on the Red Bull Bedroom Jam stage at the 2010 Sonisphere event. Later, in December 2010, the band performed at Hatfield Forum to support Enter Shikari at both of their Christmas parties. Don Broco also performed at the Amersham Summer Festival in September 2010.
