Dutch-Slovak deathcore bruisers Distant have unleashed a brooding and brutal new music video for “Feast of Misery”. The track hails from their latest album, “Tsukuyomi: The Origin”, released last year through Century Media Records.
But don’t mistake “Tsukuyomi: The Origin” for a simple reissue — this is a bold reimagining of the band’s debut EP “Tsukuyomi”. The album features seven brand-new tracks alongside six revamped versions of songs from the original release, all refitted with the band’s current sonic intensity. The record serves as a fleshed-out prequel to the character Tsukuyomi, whose dark journey also threads through previous releases “The Heritage” and “The Rise of Tyrannotophia”.
Adding some extra firepower to the album are guest appearances from scene heavyweights like Matt Heafy (Trivium), Alex Erian (Despised Icon), David Simonich (Signs of the Swarm), and Travis Worland (Enterprise Earth), each lending their unique flair to the mix.
The inspiration behind this release wasn’t just narrative-driven. Distant wanted to breathe new life into their earliest material — not just updating it, but expanding it into something bigger, louder, and more cinematic.
And despite a hectic schedule — the band played a whopping 117 shows in 2023 alone, sharing stages with Suffocation, Fit For An Autopsy, Bodysnatcher, and Born Of Osiris — they’ve kept the creative flame burning. While crisscrossing the globe, they’ve also been hard at work on new music. Now, as Distant celebrates their 10-year anniversary, they’re doing it with all guns blazing.
