Dino Cazares says Fear Factory’s upcoming album is “diverse”

Fear Factory guitarist Dino Cazares says the band’s long-awaited new album will retain the sound that listeners associate with the group while also exploring new musical territory. In a recent interview with GRIMM Gent, Cazares described the record as “diverse” and said it “goes into different elements.”
“I love the new song. I love the record, and I can’t wait for people to hear the rest of it,” Cazares said. “It is diverse. It does have a lot of Fear Factory elements that people know, but it also goes into different elements as well.” He added that vocalist Milo Silvestro brings different vocal styles to the material.
The comments came as Cazares discussed “Roboticist”, the band’s latest single, released in late August through Nuclear Blast. The track is the first new Fear Factory release to feature Silvestro and drummer Pete Webber, both of whom have been part of the band’s touring lineup for more than three years.
Cazares explained that “Roboticist” began as an instrumental piece he wrote around three years ago to demonstrate the range of tones available in his Toneforge Disruptor guitar plugin. The song was later rearranged to accommodate Silvestro’s vocals. Cazares said the vocalist’s hook made him feel the track was ready to be released.
He also hinted that the next single will take a somewhat different direction, while still sounding recognisably like Fear Factory. “You’re still gonna say, ‘Okay, that’s still Fear Factory,’” he said, adding that the band’s familiar formula would remain alongside new elements.
The upcoming album will continue the band’s long-running lyrical interest in the relationship between humanity and technology. Cazares said the new material revisits themes of “man versus machine” and the organic versus the digital, while also considering how artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly embedded in everyday life.
The album is expected to be Fear Factory’s first full-length release featuring Silvestro and Webber. Its predecessor, “Aggression Continuum”, arrived in 2021 and was the band’s final album featuring former vocalist Burton C. Bell.
