The metalcore‑turned‑deathcore outfit Design the Skyline are back with a vengeance, dropping their crushing new single “Beckoning”. The track marks a return to heavier roots and signals a renewed push into the spotlight.

The band, from Corpus Christi, Texas, first gained attention in the early 2010s. Their avant‑garde style and MySpace-era theatrics stirred both buzz and backlash. After years of silence following their 2018 single “In Dreams”, they’ve now resurfaced with new music and reactivated social media accounts.

“Beckoning” wastes no time making an impact. It shows a clear shift into deathcore, trading earlier experimental elements for punishing breakdowns, sharp riffs, and eerie melodies. The track also comes with a visually intense music video now available to stream below.

However, the comeback isn’t without controversy. A dispute over the band’s identity is unfolding behind the scenes. One version of Design the Skyline, led by original members Dani Ray and Matt Ryan, released “Beckoning” through new channels. Meanwhile, a separate version of the band—linked to former vocalist Eric Azure—has reissued early EPs and claimed to be the true continuation of the project. Dani Ray has publicly challenged these claims. As a result, fans are now left wondering which version holds the real legacy.
