Desertfest is the UK’s premier independent Stoner Rock, Doom, Psych & Sludge festival. Next edition coming May 21st – May 23rd 2027 Camden, London UK. DesertFest London was initially conceptualized by Reece Tee and Daniel Kinsey, affiliated with the music promotions organization Desertscene. Desertscene commenced event organization in 2009, beginning with the promotion of the band Truckfighters.

Following experience gained from promoting individual acts and recognizing demand for a UK-based festival akin to Roadburn, the organizers decided to establish DesertFest. The inaugural festival was officially announced on 26 July 2011 via a Facebook post, with promotional posters subsequently displayed at London’s High Voltage Festival.

During the initial development phase of the festival, the organizing team partnered with Sound of Liberation to establish a German counterpart, DesertFest Berlin. The first announcement of participating bands for DesertFest London was made on 24 October 2011.

The inaugural edition of the event was held in Camden, London, from April 6th to April 8th, 2012. The initial venues included The Underworld, Purple Turtle, and The Black Heart.

The event has continued annually, typically occurring in April and May. While still located in Camden, the venues have varied over the years, with larger locations such as The Electric Ballroom and Koko being used. In 2016, the event was scheduled to return for its fifth year, taking place from April 29th to May 1st.
