According to Billboard and theprp, “Private Music,” Deftones‘ 10th studio album, will debut at number five on the Billboard 200. During its first week of release, the seasoned alternative metal band reportedly sold 87,000 album-equivalent units of that record. Pure sales account for 66,000 of that total, while on-demand streams make up the remaining 26.72 million. The band, who are now enjoying a career-high comeback, easily outperformed 2020’s “Ohms,” their previous album, in the first week. In its first week, that endeavor sold 49,000 units and debuted at number five on the Billboard 200. Even if Deftones‘ popularity may be at an all-time high, the band’s historic album “White Pony,” which debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 with 178,000 copies, still sells the best in its first week. Due to the Labor Day holiday, the updated Billboard 200 list that reflects the performance of “private music” is anticipated to be released on September 3rd, one day later than usual.
