Up-and-coming American metalcore band Deadlands launched their new single “Villain“. The band says about themselves that their focus in music “is to break the stereotype of heavy music and show that there is something for everyone to enjoy”. Deadlands is fronted by Kasey Karlsen, who does vocals and lyrics, with CJ Arey (NO SHADE) as Deadland’s guitarist and producer and Kyle OBraitis as the band’s drummer.
The band says about their newly released track “Villain“:
“The narrator’s journey is one of empowerment, as they reclaim their strength and flip the script on their oppressor. The imagery of setting traps and planning attacks symbolizes the strategic, calculated response to pride’s manipulative grip, transforming the victim into a formidable force.
As the song culminates, the protagonist embraces their role as the ‘villain,’ illustrating how the fight against pride can lead to a dark realization of one’s own power by succumbing to the sin, losing themselves and ultimately their life in the process.”
Deadlands have plans to release other songs that talk about the seven deadly sins.
Until then, you can listen to the new fire track “Villain“!
