Swedish AOR/Classic Rock band Daytona return today with “Listen to the Silence”, the first single from their forthcoming second album, “Sign Language”, due for release on February 19, 2027, as CD, LP and digital, on Escape Music.
Released together with an official music video, “Listen to the Silence” marks the beginning of a new chapter for a band whose debut album, Garder La Flamme, quickly established Daytona as one of the most talked-about new names in the international Melodic Rock scene.
Following its release through Escape Music, Garder La Flamme received an outstanding response from both fans and the international Rock press. Its songwriting, production and connection with the golden age of Melodic Rock earned Daytona widespread attention, with the album appearing in numerous year-end selections and helping propel the Swedish band into the front ranks of the new generation of AOR and melodic rock artists.
Rather than simply repeating the formula of their debut, Daytona are now moving forward with “Sign Language”, an album conceived as a natural evolution of everything the band established with their debut album.
The concept behind the new record is very precise. Daytona are not looking back at the 1980s through a modern lens or attempting to reproduce the decade as a nostalgic exercise. Instead, they have approached the music, production and visual identity of “Sign Language” with a different question in mind: what would a Daytona album have sounded and looked like if the band had actually made it in 1988?
That philosophy runs throughout the record. “Sign Language” has been written with the traditional LP format in mind, creating a complete listening experience in which different tempos, moods and musical ideas belong to the same overall journey. Melody remains at the heart of Daytona’s songwriting, but the band have also placed greater emphasis on dynamics and musical details designed to reveal themselves over repeated listens.
The same approach extends to the recording process. Real performances and real instruments are at the core of the album, with the production built around musicianship rather than shortcuts. The influence of late-’80s AOR and melodic Hard Rock is therefore not treated as a stylistic costume, but as the musical language that comes most naturally to Daytona.
The first taste of that new direction is “Listen to the Silence”, a song with a distinctly cinematic late ’80s AOR character and a title that carries a message extending beyond the music itself.

At a time when communication has become faster, louder and increasingly shaped by the constant competition for attention, “Listen to the Silence” reflects on the importance of stepping away from the noise and actually listening. Beneath the song lies a subtle observation about modern communication: the loudest voice is often the one that receives the most attention, while something meaningful can easily disappear underneath everything competing to be heard.
The official video expands on that idea while also introducing the wider visual world Daytona have created around “Sign Language”, making the single the first complete glimpse into the atmosphere surrounding the new album.
With “Garder La Flamme” having given Daytona their international breakthrough and brought them to the attention of Melodic Rock fans and media around the world, “Sign Language” represents the next major step for the band. Rather than abandoning the identity that made their debut successful, Daytona are taking that foundation further, with an album conceived from the beginning as a complete musical and visual statement.
