Former Accept vocalist David Reece says he is back in contact with guitarist Wolf Hoffmann after a break of almost four decades. Speaking to Chris Akin on The Classic Metal Show, Reece revealed that Hoffmann had personally reached out to him.
According to Reece, the unexpected approach came in August. He recalled receiving an email from Hoffmann after initially ignoring telephone calls from an unfamiliar US number. The singer said they had not spoken directly in roughly 40 years.
“We’re now speaking again,” Reece confirmed.
Reece was the singer on Accept’s 1989 album “Eat the Heat”, but his time in the German heavy metal band ended later that year. He described the renewed contact as particularly meaningful given their long history.
He was not involved in the band’s 50th-anniversary release, “Teutonic Titans 1976–2026”, which arrived in September. The new rendition of “Hellhammer“, originally recorded during Reece’s tenure, features Dangerous Toys vocalist Jason McMaster. Reece admitted he was initially disappointed by his absence from the project, while also acknowledging that fans continue to embrace the song.
The two musicians are talking again, but the interview did not establish any reunion, guest performance or other collaboration.
