Daron Malakian delivers strong message to political leaders who launch wars from a distance

Recently, Armenian-American nu metal giants System Of A Down‘s guitarist/vocalist Daron Malakian posted a scathing political statement on social media, as per theprp. Malakian posted the video below of himself flipping off the camera on his Instagram on April 3rd, in reference to the lyrics of the band’s 2005 anti-war hymn “B.Y.O.B.”

This one goes out to presidents and politicians who start wars and don’t send their sons, daughters, and loved ones to the battlefield. Why do they always send the poor?!!!!

This comes after Malakian faced criticism for his song “Your Lives Burn” towards the end of last year. Some people didn’t enjoy that song, which was taken from “Addicted To The Violence.” Malakian‘s very neutral protest anthem was openly criticized by both supporters and detractors, who seemed to object to its lack of a clear condemnation or attitude. Malakian‘s song appeared to be held to the same standard as System Of A Down‘s, given the latter’s previous intensely political output, which is frequently credited to Serj Tankian‘s activism. John Dolmayan, the drummer for Tankian, is still as politically vocal as ever. However, Dolmayan has consistently expressed support for U.S. President Donald J. Trump, whereas Tankian continues to primarily support left-leaning causes.
